We suppose just about every “reunion” is inevitable these days, but it doesn’t stop us from getting excited about it. Iconic punk trio Sleater-Kinney are the latest to get us excited, announcing today their first album in ten years, No Cities To Love, which will be released on 16th January 2015 on Sub Pop via Inertia in Australia.
The album was recorded in San Francisco in early 2014 at Tiny Telephone Recordings in total secret, with the same line-up we’ve come to know and love: Corin Tucker on vocals and guitar, Carrie Brownstein (who has since come to fame through Portlandia on guitar/vocals and Janet Weiss on drums. John Goodmanson, who helmed four other Sleater-Kinney records as well as records from Bikini Kill and Blonde Redhead, produced the album.
The first taste of the album comes in the form of the lead single “Bury Our Friends” feat. Miranda July. The track itself though isn’t new – fans heard the track on a surprise one-side 7” which was included in the recent Sleater-Kinney boxset Start Together.
Stay tuned to the AU for more Sleater-Kinney news and look out for No Cities To Love when it’s released on 16th January 2015.
