What music or artists inspired you?
All music that surrounds us, but no artist/band in particular. We always feel inspired by artists, who are creative and who break genres and who do music unconventionally

How did the band get started?
Stephan started the band on his own, since he always wanted to play in a band, but didn’t play band instruments. So he decided to do electronic music, which on its own was too boring to him, so he combined it with the instrument he learned, the violin. The combination worked unexpectedly well and I’m Not A Band was born. A female singer joined the project for a couple of years and now for the new album “Oceans” Simon has joined the band.

How would you best describe your live show:
Energetic and thrilling performance making melancholy danceable

What shows do you have coming up?
We have 6 more festivals dates out of 20 this summer. And in autumn we’ll play a 20 gigs tour all over Germany and Switzerland
Keep an eye on Facebook for more dates.

Tell us about your latest release:
’Cages’ is directly addressed to you – and your ego. The track is not about the suffering of locked up creatures, but a plea against emotional isolation. ‘We live in cages to never feel alone’, Simon sings in the very first line – and is referring to the good old principle of ’not caring, not being hurt’. But this is exactly what you should do. Care about others. When travelling. Partying. Or even in your relationships right now. Paradoxically, or also very fittingly, the sound of Cages transmits the feeling of holidays, adventures and new experiences. But there is always a little doubt – either in Simon’s voice or Stephan’s melancholic violin
