Fresh from a sizzling performance at the Big Day Out CAMERAS are proud to announce that they are gearing up for international release in the USA and Europe later this year having inked a deal with LA based indie label Manimal Vinyl. Manimal Vinyl owner Paul Beahan is proud to announce the Sydney 3 piece has joined his family with a physical release and US tour dates scheduled for later this year:
“…never has such a band graced us with their presence with such integrity and encapsulate the true spirit Anglo-Pop as CAMERAS. We are thrilled to be a part of their journey and make them a part of the international consciousness”
Manimal Vinyl is an LA based indie label founded in 2006 by fashion stylist, Paul Beahan. They have released records with Warpaint, Bat for Lashes, The Chapin Sisters, Rain Phoenix’s papercranes, Hecuba and Rainbow Arabia.
CAMERAS formed in 2008 in Sydney, Australia after Eleanor Dunlop (vox/keys) and Fraser Harvey (vox/guitar/bass) discovered a mutual love for layering darker dirtier sounds with warmer delicate melodies. The music that they have gone onto create is both light and dark, loud and soft, raw and atmospheric, alternative indie rock with layers of haunting ethereal beauty and pent up aggression. CAMERAS have been attracting a lot of attention through Triple J, BBC6 Music in the UK and KCRW in the US and have become the darlings of Sydney’s live scene; performing at last year’s Sydney Creative Festival at the Museum of Contemporary Art, recently at the Sydney 2011 Big Day Out and wrote the score to NIDA’s haunting stage production “Motel”, performing with the live cast in both Sydney and at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Other recent festival appearances include Southbound, One Movement, Peats Ridge and Playground Weekender in Australia.
