Now in its 6th year, the Courtyard Sessions are returning to the leafy surrounds of Sydney’s Seymour Centre courtyard tomorrow. The event will run every Friday evening from 6 to 9pm for 10 weeks.
The totally free event will feature an emerging artist alongside free “giant” games, as well as BBQ and drinks for sale. The event, which is supported by the City of Sydney, is all ages and welcomes pooches of all sizes.
The 2017 lineup will see a broad mix of artists across its season: from the roots stylings of recent Universal Music/Lost Highway signee Imogen Clark, who opens the season tomorrow, through to the ethereal electronic pop of BUOY, fresh off a tour with Lisa Mitchell and the Nashville Americana infused sounds of the incredible Amber Rae Slade.
GOLDHEIST (aka Hester Fraser) will close the season on Friday, 17th March. Her songs tell stories of love, life and adventure, painting vibrant pictures of the Australian bush, current affairs and events, not to mention a few broken hearts. Honky-tonk/ Rockabilly group The Cruisin’ Deuces, Sydney’s indie Bluesman Frank Sultana and one of Australia’s finest singer/songwriters Jordie Lane also feature on the program.
The season will also introduce a special all-female singer/songwriter night to the Courtyard Sessions, in an “In The Round” format inspired by Nashville’s iconic Bluebird Cafe. Hosted by Taryn La Fauci, the event will also feature Sabrina Soares and Melanie Dyer, with more artists to be revealed. The night will be recorded for Taryn’s Top of the World podcast.
