Stopped crying over Hospice yet? Me neither, but songwriter/singer Peter Silberman (from heartbreak indie-rock band The Antlers) is gearing up to release his first solo album, Impermanence, due February 24 via Inertia Music. Impermanence invites us into Silberman’s journey with a hearing impairment that led him to leave Brooklyn for a quieter upstate New York as he slowly re-introduced himself to elements of instrumental sound.
This record accentuates and considers the luxury of silence, opting for patient spaces between notes and chords, making the most of minimal arrangements and allowing each track to breathe. Recently dropped single from the album, “New York”, captures Silberman’s approach with the same elegance used so often by The Antlers, predicting a just as emotionally demanding album even without the full band.
