Fresh off playing the AU review’s 5th Birthday Party in Sydney, we talk to The Guppies ahead of their BIGSOUND appearance. They let us in on what they’re up to at the moment, what the rest of the year will be holding, what we can expect from them at BIGSOUND and more…
Tell us what you’re up to at the moment… what are you promoting at BIGSOUND?
Right now we are in the midst of working on some new material that we are keen to try out live at BIGSOUND. Also cutting a new single that should be out in the coming weeks!
Have you played BIGSOUND before?
Never played BIGSOUND before, only ever played outside of NSW once! So we are really amped to get a little rowdy and put on a rad show for Brisrael!
What have you heard about it and what are you expecting?
I’ve heard that it is a full on couple of days, lots going on, lots to learn from. Im expecting to watch some sick aussie bands and have a beer with some new found mates!
What can crowds expect from your shows?
Our show is very primitive. We just get up there and rock out for half an hour pretty much! A lot of energy and sweat!
Are there any bands you’re looking forward to seeing perform?
DUNIES!! guaranteed rad time. Delta Riggs, and our homeboys Little Bastard! So much good music going on…
Any talks/speakers you’re looking forward to?
Keen to stumble round to as many talks as possible, lot of legends on the bill, and a lot of people I’ve looked up to for a long time! I’m positive ill find plenty of little nuggets of information over the week!
What are three essential items for life on the road?
1. Tinnies 2. bangin’ tunes 3. tinnies.
What has been your favourite Australian album of the year so far and why?
Without a doubt, ‘I See Seaweed’ from ‘The Drones’. Im just a massive sucker for Gareth’s honest vocal delivery and bummed out lyrics (and who doesn’t love a good dive-bomb!)
What will the rest of 2013 be holding for you?
Hopefully smash out some more recordings, play some more shows with some rad bands and have a ripping time doing so! keep ya ear to the ground, yung gupps out!!
