Jack and Jeremy from City Calm Down caught up with the AU’s editor-in-chief Larry at BIGSOUND recently. The alternative pop group have immediate plans for touring through October in advance of the release of their new album In A Restless House.
Touring for any band is the prime chance to play new material live; “This is a really good chance for us to get out and play everything” says Jack. The gradual process in the lead up to the album has seen trials and tribulations of song selection as he adds; “there’s a lot of songs on there we’re looking forward to putting out, it’s got a few different flavours compared to our previous stuff”. Jeremy adds, “we were blessed with the time to finish it off properly and do it the way we wanted to do it.”
The boys are immensely thankful for the team who put in countless over-time hours producing and mixing the record, including their producer, Malcolm Besley, from their 2012 EP Movements; “he’s been rock solid the whole way through” says Jack, who values all team members that sculpt and support their sound. The pair describe the record as a cohesive blend of material in order for the fans to experience the best selection of songs.
