We continue out interview with Hiatus Kaiyote, talking about the release date of their upcoming album Choose Your Weapon – May 4th. Despite the date’s significance in pop culture by referring to ‘may the force,’ the band insists it was unintentionally placed there, exclaiming: “Nai has never seen Star Wars!” They all briefly discuss what Star Wars characters they would be, before moving on to touring news.
“We’re in the states all through May then I guess we’re doing shows in Europe through June/July. It’s still getting mapped out but we have a lot of stuff locked in for May in the states,” said Paul Bender.
When asked if their rising success has led to any pressure at SXSW this time round, the band agreed not really: “As soon as we all get on stage, I feel like we all forget about that stuff and get immersed in it. I think that’s what the attractive thing to the audience is, they really feed off that…the energy they’re getting is the energy that we’re giving.”
