From the Canadian Blast BBQ at SXSW, Johnny has a chat with Canadian band The Bros. Landreth and the chaos that is SXSW Music, releasing their debut album Let It Lie and potentially making their way down to Australia. With some of the members already having visited Australia in the past, the band is keen to get their music out here and perform for what they note is a thriving scene for live music.
“We’re working on getting the album out in Europe and the UK and also we’re looking at some options for Australia! With any luck, we’ll get down there sooner than later, we’ve got a lot of ground to cover and not a lot of time to do it, so we’re trying to make it work.”
Their album Let It Lie was recorded in Manitoba in the depths of the Canadian winter. For The Bros. Landreth, working on this Americana music (produced by Murray Pulver) wound up being an experience they’re all incredibly proud of – a result you want for a debut, especially.
“We put out a record on January 27th in the US called Let it Lie; we recorded it back home in Canada… we went out for three days to do bits, in the coldest week of the winter, and came up with this album that we’re really proud of. Eleven songs, we’re touring it right now in the States pretty heavily; we’ve got about 40 tour dates coming up over the next two months, we’re right in the midst of it. We’re just out on the road, trying to get it to as many willing ears possible!”
