Singer/songwriter from Brisbane Conrad Sewell stopped by the AU review HQ for a chat. Having just finished up touring with Ed Sheeran, there are many more exciting things on the horizon for this young Aussie. On touring with Sheeran, Conrad couldn’t speak more highly, “they’re just great songs, I mean Bob Dylan did it… Ed does it in a really cool way. Feels like you’re at a hip hop concert sometime,s but it can also feel like you’re being serenaded by the most beautiful soulful singer in the world…”
While songs for the Sheeran show needed to be more stripped back, Conrad admitted he was “looking forward to getting the full band playing… a lot of the songs need that, as much as they sound cool stripped down – it’s really nice to have some face-melting guitar solos…”
Conrad also spoke fondly of his time at Austin’s SXSW: “The Spotify house was awesome… it was like a mini festival. The crowd enjoyed our set… Couldn’t ask for much more.” Upon delving into his passions, he said “One thing about me as an artist is that I love to play live and I love to connect with an audience… We got a really great response from the Australian public…” Finally, on future plans, Conrad mentioned that there were a lot of things in motion but that he enjoys “Riding the roller coaster and trying to keep it going”.
