Happy October! As we edge closer to the festive (and festival) season, we have national tours kicking off, more international bands arriving and some of our favourite locals doing their own thing around the country. Check out some of our picks for the weekend ahead, below.
Parkway Drive – BRISBANE
The heavyweights will be bringing Ire to the Riverstage in Brisbane tomorrow night, continuing to dominate huge stages around the country. Having been on the road with new album since late September, the Parkway Drive boys aren’t showing any signs of slowing down (the tour continues through for a few weeks yet), and hell we don’t want them to either.
When?: Friday, October 2nd.
Where?: Riverstage, Brisbane.
Tickets: www.ticketmaster.com.au.
The Meanies – MELBOURNE
Aussie punk legends The Meanies take on The Tote tomorrow night with their new album, It’s Not Me, It’s You. Having gone two decades without releasing a new record, it’s pretty safe to say that this one has been a little while in the making but the fans aren’t complaining – these shows are going to be sick.
When?: Friday, October 2nd.
Where?: The Tote, Melbourne.
Tickets: www.oztix.com.au.
City Calm Down – MELBOURNE
Possibly one of the more anticipated tours of 2015’s second half belongs to City Calm Down and the release of their long-awaited record In a Restless House. Tickets for their original Melbourne show on Saturday sold out incredibly quickly, and tickets to the second show (Friday) are moving fairly rapidly too. Supported by Foreign/National, it’s a bill you’ll adore.
When?: Friday, October 2nd & Saturday, October 3rd.
Where?: Howler, Melbourne.
Tickets: www.moshtix.com.au (SATURDAY SOLD OUT)
Listen Out Festival – SYDNEY & BRISBANE
The Listen Out party comes to Sydney & Brisbane this weekend after having a successful run in Melbourne last weekend. With the likes of Childish Gambino, Client Liaison, Alison Wonderland and more running amok on stages, fans can expect to get up to all types of antics with some sick music as a backdrop.
When?: Saturday, October 3rd & Sunday, October 4th.
Where?: Centennial Park, Sydney & Brisbane Showgrounds.
Tickets: www.listenout.com.au
Bahamas – SYDNEY
Canadian musician Bahamas returns to Australia, but this time with his full band, for a tour that will see him build upon the warm reception he received on his last trip out with City and Colour. A masterful songwriter and an endearing live performer, Bahamas has become one of the AU’s favourites in recent months and his Sydney show at the OAF is one we’d highly recommend checking out.
When?: Friday, October 2nd.
Where?: Oxford Art Factory, Sydney.
Tickets: www.moshtix.com.au.
Yours & Owls Festival – WOLLONGONG
The Yours & Owls Festival hits Wollongong again this weekend, showing off a killer array of Australian bands and artists coming over from abroad. This year’s event sees the likes of Gang of Youths, the Delta Riggs, Bec Sandridge, Bahamas and more perform over the two-dayer, arguably their biggest line up yet. Tickets are still available – get to it!
When?: Friday, October 2nd & Saturday, October 3rd.
Where?: Stuart Park, Wollongong.
Tickets: www.moshtix.com.au.
Dead Letter Circus – FREMANTLE & ADELAIDE
The Brisbane band comes to the west coast and South Oz this weekend, bringing new album Aesthesis on the road, brand spanking new. The Dead Letter Circus live show has only gone from strength to strength in the last couple of tours, with the band continually showing signs of development and a furthered sense dynamic and fun within live production and musicianship. Not a show to be missed, which is good, considering this album tour is keeping them on the road for much of the month!
When?: Friday, October 2nd & Sunday, October 4th.
Where?: Metropolis, Fremantle & The Gov, Adelaide.
Tickets: www.oztix.com.au.
