The Avalanches announces “A Party for Melbourne” with party food from Attica

Attica’s Ben Shewry has hooked up with the founding members of eternally acclaimed music wizards The Avalanches to throw “A Party for Melbourne”, a virtual house party taking place on Saturday 12th September.

“The idea for A Party for Melbourne grew out of our friendship with Ben and Kylie Staddon from Attica,” said The Avalanches’ Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi. “We began to think about what we can do for this city that has nurtured us. How do we say thank you to Melburnians for their sacrifices during lockdown, and also offer a light at the end of the tunnel?”

The “love letter and a thank you” to Melbourne will kick off with a series of Party 101 videos which Shewry will release across the week prior to the event. This includes the award-winning chef’s tips on party food and how to turn your living room into a disco. Then, on the 12th September, it’ll culminate with a set from The Avalanches, and support from DJ Soju Gang.

Anyone who has taken to mastering their culinary skills in the kitchen should jump over to Melbourne Food & Wine Festival’s official website, where Shewry’s videos will be premiering, tracking recipes for the likes of cheese and pineapple hedgehogs, better-than-sausage sausage rolls, and hectic prawn cocktails.

The ‘How to Party’ videos and live DJ sets will ticketed, with registration opening on 28th August via MFWF’s website. Ticketholders will be sent a link to the live YouTube event the day prior to A Party for Melbourne.
