Tuesday night in Singapore brought with it more education and musical discovery as Music Matters Live and All That Matters continued to engage in high gear performance and conferencing sessions.
Up at the Ritz-Carlton, we learned from T.Jay Fowler from YouTube (Director, Product Management) at the ‘Future of Music’ keynote session about how the relationship between music and technology is forming the fabric of the industry moving into the future and, how technology stands to completely change the way musicians and industry individuals work. Is it a good thing or is it bad for creativity? It is a ever-evolving conversation, one that All The Matters has continued to tap into over Monday and today’s programming.
Earlier in the afternoon, NZ pop star Theia performed in the Ballroom ahead of BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch‘s keynote session that took us through a select insight of this person’s career, one that has gone from artist to producer, to business provocateur. Following on from Masuch’s session, Tom Windish from the Paradigm Talent Agency took to the stage to discuss the company’s growing successes, and the growth of the business from his apartment to its current thriving hub of offices in the United States.
On the live music side of things, Music Matters Live entered its penultimate night of showcases, with Switch and Timbre @ The Substation providing us with the bulk of our entertainment on what was another humid Singapore night. The Taiwan Beats showcase saw Elephant Gym, POETEK and Chang and Lee storm the stage; Chang and Lee were one of the first bands we saw at Music Matters Live, effervescent in performance quality and charm. Over at The Substation, the Timbre audience had another dose of Aussie goodness, when Childsaint, Lyon Apprentice and Swim Season each had their turn, the latter bringing a particularly massive response.
Music Matters Live finishes in Singapore tomorrow night, September 13th.
