The White House will be taking a page out of SXSW‘s playbook next month when the Obamas host SXSL: A White House Festival of Ideas, Art, and Action (South By South Lawn), a day long event that will tie in live performances, interactive exhibitions, the White House Student Film Festival and more. It’s the first time an event of its kind has ever been put on by The White House and to mark its significance, the program has come through strongly.
Presented in conjunction with the American Film Institute, the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, the National Park Foundation and SXSW itself, the event will be able to be streamed live via SXSW, the White House’s website and on Facebook here.
Performing at SXSL will be The Lumineers and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, while the film element of the festival will see The Duffer Brothers appearing with the cast of Stranger Things.
The President himself will also be appearing in conversation with Leonardo DiCaprio before the latter’s climate documentary Before The Flood will premiere on the South Lawn of the White House.
Pretty cool, huh?
More details about the live music line up will be revealed but in the meantime, check out the full SXSL rundown HERE. South By South Lawn will be happening on Monday, October 3rd.
