COVID-safe gigs are starting to pop up all around Sydney, but the latest batch is something else. In partnership with Sailor Jerry Spice Rum, a new gig series supporting independent live music is spreading several intimate gigs over the next few weeks, all taking place in some of Sydney’s most beloved venues.
The unique series of exclusive gigs will be streamed on Instagram, but a select few will be able to score tickets and rock up to venues to witness a type of concert that has never been staged in Sydney before.
But these won’t be ordinary venues. They’ll be super intimate, ranging from tattoo parlours to cocktails bars.
The series already kicked off earlier this week with The Dead Love performing in inner west tattoo parlour The Tattoo Movement, banging through songs while simultaneously being tattooed. A chance to get inked for free was even included for each ticket holder.
The remainder of the series will explore Sydney’s best bars as well as team up with some of the wildest bands around. First, there’ll be The Polish Club performing on 19th August at Newtown small bar Earl’s Juke Joint.
A week later, it’ll be onto Newcastle pop punk outfit Eat Your Heart Out, who will be playing to a small (COVID-safe) crowd at backstreet city bar Since I Left You on 27th August.
