SXSW announces their 2017 lineup of guest speakers
Founded in 1987 in Austin, Texas, South by Southwest is an internationally renowned conference and festival event which celebrates the convergence of the interactive, film and music industries. Earlier this week, the organisers announced its first round of speakers for their 2017 event which will run from March 10-19th.
The 2017 keynote speakers so far include; Jennifer Doudna, a geneticist and pioneer co-inventor of CRISPR-Cas9, and Jull Soloway the creator of the critically acclaimed series Transparent. Other speakers include; a New York Times best-selling author Dan Lyons, Pinterest’s Head of Diversity Candice Morgan, internationally renowned television producer Adam Savage and many more.
Also, for the first time ever, at the 2017 SXSW event, attendees will be able to use their badges to gain secondary access to various SXSW events which are not included within their primary badge-type category.
Jaxsta
Back in the day, when physical sales still dominated the music industry, all albums and singles were accompanied by paper ‘jackets’ which thoroughly credited everyone who was involved in producing the final work. The people credited included not only the artists and record label, but also the names of important behind-the-scenes people such as the producers, photographers and video directors. However, with the current domination of digital music, people who work behind-the-scenes barely get the recognition they deserve, which is where Jaxsta comes in.
Jaxsta is a brand new online platform that aims to be the credit roll of the music industry. Since its inception back in 2013, Jaxsta has been steadily gathering and verifying data on the hundreds of people involved in creating all types of music. And they’re finally launching their website in Australia this year.
Sourcing their information from multiple authoritative sources such as major music labels, publishers and industry associations, Jaxsta has simplified the process of finding out the who, what, when, where, why and how of any song to just the click of a mouse. You can explore their new website HERE.
