Hi, we are The Black Lullaby, a 4-piece rock band from north coast NSW. This is a tour diary for the AU Review of our trip to Toronto where we showcased at Canadian Music Week 2014. We had an awesome time and met some great people and saw some amazing bands – check out our music HERE and enjoy part one of our tour diary here:
SUNDAY 5 MAY – DAY 1
Ange, Gav and Deon left a day early from Brisbane and arrived in Toronto late Sunday night. It just happened to be ‘Cinco de Mayo’ the following day, which is some sort of celebration of Mexican heritage and culture. They managed to find a Mexican restaurant with great food and free tequila…… a good way to start the tour!!!!
MONDAY 6 MAY – DAY 2
Day 2 was spent recovering from the flight (not the tequila) and Lucas arrived late Monday night. We all headed out so he could try and adjust to the time difference and dropped in at the Horseshoe Tavern where we were showcasing later in the week. Some other amazing bands have played the same stage so we were pumped for the Aussie BBQ on Saturday.
We then moved on to a cool bar called The Communist’s Daughter aka Nazaré Snack Bar, and caught up with Yeo another Aussie artist showcasing at CMW. The tiny bar was packed for a Monday which was vinyl vote night. This is where you bring your own records in and the bartender plays them and then gets the whole bar to vote to play the B side or dump it for the next ‘mystery’ record.
TUESDAY 7 MAY – DAY 3
Some road trippin’ today – off to Niagra Falls which were amazing. Ange was here only 2 months ago and everything was frozen, apparently the coldest winter in this part of North America for 40 years. Luckily for us the weather was heaps warmer and it was a great day. Jet-lag still taking its toll on everyone with most of us snoozing in the car on the way back to Toronto.
Stay tuned for part two of this tour diary and head to http://www.theblacklullaby.com/ for more about the band!
