The silly season has already started. With work winding down, Christmas parties loading up, and all those Xmas lights starting to sparkle, it’s beginning to look a lot like freedom.

Jamie XX
Jamie XX has alchemised some of dance music’s most memorable tracks over the past decade, so you best believe he’ll be bringing the heat when he pops on down to Australia for a few shows across the country. Most notably, he’ll be playing at Sydney’s Carriageworks for what should easily be the EDM show of the year.
The dependable team at Astral People will take him around the country for a few shows staggered around his set at Meredith Music Festival. Take note of the dates below.

Jack White
The legendary Jack White hasn’t been down in Australia for a good year, so early December will be the perfect time to catch his masterful brand of blues-inflected rock and, hopefully, a few The White Stripes tunes as well. The “No Name” tour will be an interesting one; tickets go on sale just weeks before the man starts touring, which will take him to all the major capitals and a few regional towns like Ballarat. And yes, he’s even coming to Hobart this time.

The Killers
Ready to belt out “Mr Brightside” along with tens of thousands of people. It may be a cliche by now, but gosh it feels good jumping around and singing at the top of your lungs to one of the most iconic indie-rock bands in history. The Killers are certainly no strangers to Australia, but Brandon Flowers and his band of merry music makers are always welcome with such open arms. It’s a testament to how deeply immersive and exciting their live shows are.
But it’s a bit different this time. The Killers will perform their classic Hot Fuss in full at some shows, and then their new greatest hits album at others. Pick your poison, grab your ticket, and make sure your lungs are ready to rock.

Zapp
One of the most seminal funk bands in history is heading on down to Australia for, to my knowledge, the first time ever. Zapp have always brought that super high-energy with their songs, sizzling since the 1970s with hits like “I Wanna Be Your Man” and “Computer Love” with a close association with voice box king Roger Troutman. Without their music, we wouldn’t have full-tilt hip hop classics like Notorious B.I.G’s “Goin’ Back To Cali”, Ice Cube’s “Friday” and Jay-Z’s “Your Love”.

Crowded House
The holidays are coming up, which means you’re almost bound to be roped into sing-a-longs to the likes of Paul Kelly, John Farnham, and these guys, Crowded House. Over the years, Crowded House has given us songs so beloved and iconic that Australia has always tried to claim them for their own. But the Kiwis have carved out their own identity, endearing throughout the ages with songs like “Don’t Dream It’s Over” and “Something So Strange”. You’ll know every hit they belt out so if you feel like some good old nostalgia, this is the one.
