We have a new track today for you from Sydney-based garage punk-pop legends Bloods. It’s “U & M E” (pronounced U and EM EE), and it’s an absolute banger. This will be on their forthcoming EP which will be called Seattle and is to be released on the 15th of May, following on from Feelings (2018). This track is totally infectious – it totally grabs all your senses on the first listen.
“U & ME” deals with the feeling of infatuation, and was apparently inspired by the Nat King Cole classic “L-O-V-E”. Lead singer Marihuzka Cornelius (MC) expands further – “I loved the idea of writing a song using the alphabet to spell out romantic sentiments. The childishness seemed to capture the immaturity of infatuation so well…”
The EP has had an A-grade birthing process. It was recorded in Seattle at Jack Endino‘s Sound House studio (recorded Nirvana’s Bleach). They had Steve Fisk on production and mixing (Soundgarden, Mudhoney). It also features guest vocals from Seattle legends TAD. And to cap it all off, they got to use the amp which Kurt Cobain used on his band’s debut album. Not bad hey!
The video was directed by Melbourne creative Lisa Businovski – it’s totally next-level as well.
