In a climate where addressing one’s own identity has never felt more important, independent Australian rapper and producer Dos Dos has released his first major single of 2020, “No Time”.
An unfettered reflection of an artist’s struggle with identity and depression, “No Time” – over a subtle base and hip-hop-inclined beat – comments on the seeming split-personality temperament that comes with the territory of being an artist.
“As Iʼve gained confidence in my work itʼs opened up the opportunity for me to process some things
from the past, which I suppose Iʼm slowly working through and itʼs helping me get to a better place. I
hope this song can resonate with people in a similar situation and encourage them to do the same thing” Dos Dos commented, regarding the song’s thematic properties of an underlying depression that offsets his confident hip-hop bravado.
Having been recording professionally for four years in his adopted city of Brisbane, Australia – he hails from New Zealand originally – the release of “No Time” signals a sense of naturality and confidence in the rapper that should only propel his potential further.
