Writing and recording music at age 15, Elme has prospered with success after releasing his first single, ‘The Missing Piece’ in 2018 and second single ‘Kids’ in 2019. Melbourne-based artist unveils his latest single “Somewhere” with the announcement of his debut EP, Departures, set to be released on September 25th.
Although Elme wrote the song based on balancing the highs and lows in his life, the single reflects deeply during these unprecedented times with COVID-19. Whilst the track evokes the feeling of keeping afloat through difficult times, the electronic indie beats uplifts the track with a strong edge and radiant vocals from Elme.
Elme further talks about the inspiration behind the song:
“Writing this song helped me reflect on experiences, and reconcile old memories and unfinished conversations. It stemmed from watching someone close to me go through a challenging situation, and became an appreciation of the human condition – effectively just balancing the highs and lows of life on a day to day basis. I could have never imagined that it would be released during a global pandemic. I think now this song almost holds a new meaning for me, especially right now where we all feel so isolated from each other and detached from our usual routines. Sometimes just the thought that there is somewhere beyond COVID-19, or perhaps someone out there waiting for us, is enough to get through another day in these uncertain times.”
