Earlier this month, Brisbane based Singer-Songwriter Jack Carty released “Welcome to the World”, the second track off his forthcoming EP. It follows on from “Why The Universe Expands”, which came out earlier in the year.
Both tracks were written in anticipation of the birth of his first child – a theme which we expect to run through the upcoming EP. And while that may dictate some of what to expect of the lyrical content, it certainly doesn’t predict the tone of the production.
With “Why The Universe Expands” being a stripped back acoustic number, it may surprise some to discover “Welcome to the World” is a powerful (and catchy) endeavour; featuring some of Carty’s most poignant lyrics to date, accompanied by a beautifully expansive production. Fans of artists like Josh Pyke will definitely feel at home here. And in many ways, with everything going on in the world right now, it’s release feels unanticipatedly timely.
On that, Carty says, “I feel really lucky to have the opportunity to send something positive out into the universe right now. This is a song about the messy chaos of everything, but how it’s still beautiful and miraculous that we are here at all.”
