Our Track of the Day comes from Brisbane rockers Selfish Sons with their latest single “Sleep”. For those unfamiliar with the band, it’s comprised of brothers Jordy and Finn Polbodetto and schoolfriend Jonty Carlson. 2019 was a breakout year for the band, with their debut EP “Sixfour” being released. They have built their growing fanbase on the success of the EP, and through some solid touring.
“Sleep” deals with the challenges of dealing with insomnia and anxiety, which Jonty Carlson has faced in the past. He describes the battle thus: “It led me through a dark place, where I became so comfortable at night that I started seeing everything differently, totally worn out and deprived. This song is about trying to figure out what was real.”
Despite the tribulations which make up the content, it has an optimistic feel to it, with some kick-arse riffs and choruses which build and build.
Selfish Sons will be touring the single in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne in March. The details are below. Catch them while you still can in these intimate venues.
