From that mesmerising bounce, spun into a tribal-like dance, to the wispy vocal performance from Sydney artist Sparrows reminiscent of a vocalist like Lykke Li, “Over & Out” is a strong case for the return of euphoric dance-pop in 2018. The singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist, born Jessica Nitties, has chosen to put this solid work out as her debut single and has instantly become one to watch as the city treads towards festival season.
Word has it “Over & Out” is built from a chopped up iPhone recording, which has been beautifully spread into a pulsing and evocative muse on friendships coming to a necessary end, described by Nitties herself as a song that is “duplicitous in nature”.
“I was experiencing immense personal growth during the making of this song, and part of this process included the realisation that a number of realities I had been operating in were no longer conducive to me, so I called an over and out of them”
Better believe this number will be popping up more and more across the internet, so make sure you get in early and note the below tour dates of this emerging artist.
You can catch Sparrows at Otto’s House Party in Sydney on 19th October or Penny Black in Melbourne on 23rd November. Give her a follow on Facebook to keep up to date.
