This morning, news has dropped that the UK’s The Last Dinner Party and San Diego’s TV Girl will both be heading down under in July. They will be playing Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Indeed, in Brisbane they will be co-headling a show on Saturday the 20th. Pre-sale tickets for all shows go on sale tomorrow, 18th April. The details and links are below.
The Last Dinner Party formed in Brixton in 2021, started touring in 2023 and are currently one of those acts that everyone is talking about. Winning the prestigous Rising Star award at the 2024 Brits hasn’t hurt either. They are currently in the midst of playing at Coachella, and the clips that have emerged have got us very excited about their visit.
Their songs feature beautiful harmonies, and are bursting at the gills with drama. They throw off shades of the brilliance of David Bowie, Kate Bush and Queen. They’ve already rocked out at Glastonbury and will be heading back there again this year, as well as Roskilde in Denmark before heading down under.
An AU favourite, Tia Gostelow, will be supporting The Last Dinner Party in Sydney and Melbourne.
TV Girl hail from the US and have been wowing audiences for the last few years with their summer-soaked tunes. They throw off hazy Californian vibes that have been infused with some well-placed sampling of gospel gems and loops of vintage films. There’s plenty of ethereal vocals, beautiful guitars and twists of hip hop and psych pop.
TV Girl released their latest record Grapes Upon the Vine in 2023. This was an album that explored themes of commitment, God, and the afterlife. They ask the big questions, whilst giving you reason to dance.
Last year, they played at Reading and Leeds Festivals, Coachella and Pukkelpop. Before heading down to Australia, they will be hitting the stages at Governors Ball and Bonnaroo.
