Despite the winter chill, we are looking ahead to July and August to warm up with an incredible lineup of live music. This year has already delivered some unforgettable acts, but it seems the best is yet to come. Australian and New Zealand are about to get a fantastic delivery of shows for you to catch, with everything from soulful singer-songwriters to pop powerhouses and legendary rock bands. We’re recommending six shows for you to jump on, with Lizzy McAlpine, FLETCHER, Griff, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Mildlife and Omar Apollo set to bring the heat in the coming weeks.
Lizzy McAlpine
Lizzy McAlpine is finally touring Australia in July. With an impressive collection of already viral tracks, her third studio album Older is quickly becoming a fan favorite. Shooting to fame in 2020 through her now TikTok-famous song “Ceilings,” the new album marks a point of maturity in the US singer-songwriter’s catalogue, a stunning 14-track collection of mellow, raw songs reflecting on losing love and moving on for the better.
The Older Tour spans North America, the UK, Europe, stopping off in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne on the way. Brisbane is rewarded with two shows at the beautiful Fortitude Music Hall. On her recent shows in the tour, Lizzy has been playing eighteen to twenty songs each night. A night to saviour.

FLETCHER
American pop powerhouse FLETCHER is heading back our way in July after a round of cancellations last year. Her 2019 breakout single “Undrunk” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, and since then she’s sold out headline tours, performed at major festivals, and garnered over 175 million streams. Her critically acclaimed 2022 debut album GIRL OF MY DREAMS centered the singer-songwriter as a force to be reckoned with in the charts.
While Melbourne and Brisbane dates are sold out, you can still grab tickets to her Perth and Sydney shows!

With a unique approach to production and design, Griff’s work shines in the UK scene, blending her Chinese-Jamaican roots with modern British pop.
The new album Vertigo, is dropping just in time on July 19, exploring themes of self-discovery and healing. The namesake single has garnered ample attention, with her latest single, “Miss Me Too” equally matching the viral hit energy.

The Jesus and Mary Chain
It’s been a legendary 40 years of The Jesus and Mary Chain, who’re coming our way with their acclaimed album, Glasgow Eyes! Debuting at #7 on the UK Official Album Chart, it’s their highest since Darklands in 1987. It’s an impressive feat to still be topping indie charts with their single “Silver Strings” praised in the likes of Pitchfork. You’ll be able to catch them on tour in Australia and New Zealand.
Alongside the tour is some suitable celebratory releases; the Never Understood biography, out August 15th, and an exclusive LP narrated by the Reid brothers on September 5th. Don’t miss this milestone tour this July and August.

Mildlife
Melbourne psychedelic jazz local legends Mildlife are on the road for their national Chorus album tour. Following the release of three standout singles, “Yourself,” “Musica,” and “Return to Centaurus,” their third studio album, released in March, easily matches the heat.
Chorus marks their first studio LP since winning back-to-back ARIA Awards for Best Jazz Album in 2021 and 2022. Mildlife continuously re-blend their ‘slinky jam’ mix of jazz, dance, and psychedelic rock into something bright and beautiful. This June and July, catch them bringing crowds together all across the country.

Omar Apollo
Two years after his debut album Ivory and the massive hit “Evergreen (You Didn’t Deserve Me at All),” Omar Apollo returns with a gorgeous new single and a national tour in July. The brutally honest “Spite” pays homage to the pain of long-distance relationships. Not afraid of emotional vulnerability, the GRAMMY-nominated, Billboard 100-climbing singer-songwriter is set to release a highly anticipated second album later this year. From NPR’s Tiny Desk to Coachella, Omar is now headed back to our shores for the first time since 2020.
Supporting him will be Forest Claudette, whose equally soul-baring tracks will perfectly complement the tour.
