Yellowcard announce 20th anniversay tour for Ocean Avenue Down Under with Motion City Soundtrack and Plain White T’s

For the first time since 2017, Yellowcard are returning to Australia. Celebrating the overdue twentieth anniversary of their groundbreaking and iconic album Ocean Avenue. As exciting as that is in itself, what makes it even better is the lineup they’re bringing with them- Motion City Soundtrack and Plain White T’s.

If you’re unfamiliar with Yellowcard, or perhaps were a casual listener back in the days when pop-punk got radio play, I think it’s important to note that these guys aren’t your average early 2000s pop-punk band. The addition of strings in all of their tracks, thanks to violinist Sean Mackin, truly adds a layer of depth to their songs and sets them apart from the rest. That, and their insanely catchy melodies and all-round fun sound.

Upon its release in 2003, Ocean Avenue peaked at 23 on the Billboard 200 and went on to solidify itself as a pop-punk classic over the years. The title track “Ocean Avenue” was the soundtrack to many early-2000s summers, charting at 13 on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 and making its way to 61 on our very own ARIA charts. It’s also featured Billboard’s list of “100 Great Choruses of the 21st Century” and rightly so.

Minneapolis 5-piece Motion City Soundtrack will be supporting, which comes after their exciting revival this past August with the release of their single “Stop Talking” after a whopping ten-year hiatus. Formed in 1997, Motion City Soundtrack have been making waves in the scene for decades and are a huge addition to this already enticing tour.

Joining them will be Plain White T’s, who will be stepping onto Aussie shores for the first time since their 2008 set at Soundwave. Their 2006 hit “Hey There Delilah” propelled them into the mainstream, achieving the number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and landing them two Grammy nominations. While it’s without a doubt their biggest track, they are by no means a one-hit-wonder, with consistent album releases over the years including their 2023 self-titled album. They also recently featured on Disney’s massively successful compilation album A Whole New Sound with their cover of “Surface Pressure” from Encanto.

This highly-anticipated tour will hit Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane from April 2-13 2025. See full dates and venues below.
