The Tineco Floor One Switch S6 vacuum and mop makes cleaning a breeze

I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing a number of Tineco floor mop vacuums over the past year or so, each with generally positive results. From the Floor One S5 Combo to the Floor One S6 Pro Extreme and the S7 Steam, each model has served well. But one problem has remained. Almost half of my house is carpet flooring, so I wasn’t really able to test these there. The Floor One S5 Combo did have a smaller vacuum attachment, but it wasn’t really enough for carpeted rooms.

Enter the Floor One Switch S6 vacuum and mop. It’s as straightforward as it sounds, with the package coming with a hot-swappable vacuum attachment that makes cleaning the entire house a breeze. While the mop vacuum follows very closely in the footsteps of something like the Floor One S6 Pro, the vacuum add-on makes this a valuable package for cleaning the entire house with just one device.

Design

The Floor One Switch S6 comes with a fair few attachments to get the job done, but the setup is relatively easy. You’ll get the standard vacuum mop, which looks very much like the S6 Pro Extreme in terms of size along with a smaller barrel and vacuum head. The main stand fits the vacuum mop, while a smaller secondary stand clips onto the side to house the vacuum attachment.

There are even a few slots on the stand to fit things like the cleaning brush and swappable heads, even if it’s strange that there’s no room for the extra roller head and Tineco cleaning solution, which previous models had provided.

The stand plugs into power and charges the vacuum mop as standard. Everything else pretty much follows in line, so I do apologise if it feels like you’ve read it all before. A dirty water tank up front and a clean water tank on the back only require a single bottle cap of solution per refill. The top of the mop vacuum houses the removable head/battery, which essentially plugs into the vacuum attachment to use on the fly with the same controls.

The same design flaws do remain, however. Unfortunately, while taking apart the vacuum mop is easy, it does have to be done rather regularly, and the filter included on top of the dirty water tank has to be cleaned manually after each clean, or it gets a little gross. If you’re a dog owner like me, this compartment under the filter will house plenty of wet excess dog fur. There’s really no way around it.

It might take up a little more space thanks to the larger charging stand, but I personally love how it all fits together. While I can make an exception for the lack of space for absolutely all included add-ons and attachments, the setup is incredibly easy, and anyone who has owned one of these before will come to grips with this newer option relatively quickly.

Functionality

Firstly, we’ll start with the main vacuum mop. It’s basically as good as the Floor One S6 Pro Extreme in a nutshell. It’s incredibly smooth and easy to use, complete with a 450RPM roller and auto and boost cleaning modes, which can be switched on the fly with the click of a button. Refillable cleaning solution aside, I also think that the Floor One Switch S6 does a great job at evenly dispersing water across hard floors, thanks to their returning iLoop technology.

The smaller water tank might mean it needs a refill between most cleaning sessions, but I felt as though I got used to it, and the charging stand never really asked for repeated self-cleaning cycles, which if you read my previous reviews, is always a plus. That being said, it’s worth noting here that the battery is shared between the mop vacuum and the standalone vacuum. You’ll generally get about 35 minutes from the vacuum mop and around 65 minutes if you’re using it just for vacuuming.

The answer for me was always somewhere in between, as I would usually detach the motor head after around 20 minutes of cleaning, and around 20 minutes of vacuuming, which lasted each and every time. But it’s worth considering if you have a larger home. As a full charge takes around 5 hours, I wouldn’t be relying on charges in between a single clean.

Secondly, we shall touch on the dedicated vacuum. Plugging the motor head into the vacuum is super easy, and it’s a rather self-explanatory experience. With a power button and dedicated mode button to switch between normal and boost modes, there’s not really much in the way of getting this thing up and running, which I think is to the Floor One Switch S6’s advantage. Because there’s not much going on, it allows the vacuum to stay incredibly light, even if I wish it were a little easier to maneuver around corners.

It didn’t necessarily blow me away, but I think it does enough to justify its existence. While you’ll always benefit from the suction of something like a Dyson V10 or above, or something like the Shark Cordless Detect Pro (my daily driver), I can appreciate its inclusion as it’s basically addressing so things this package has always been missing, and something I’ve always made note of.

It picks up a fair amount of dirt and debris on hardwood floors and might require another pass-over on thicker carpets. But it’s light, flexible and thanks to the initially strangely placed handle, easy to reach under lower areas.

The motor head can also attach to a smaller head for use in smaller areas like cars and tighter corners and wardrobes, and it performs just as well. Through it all, the main motor head does include the same handy LED display, which points out battery life and your current modern, and will even flash red or blue to indicate dirty and clean areas, along with a built-in light on the head for darker spots. It’s also a miracle for dog hair, even if it frightened me when I saw just how much dog hair was hanging around.

Software

We’re taking an expert from our previous Tineco vacuum mop reviews, as we believe the available software applies to the Floor One Switch S6 in very much the same way:

“It’s also compatible with the Tineco Life app, a feature that I admittedly was not aware of until later in this review period. While it can’t control the functionality of the vacuum itself, it can do a couple of cool things.

Firstly, it can detect and track how often you’ve used it per day and even track how dirty the water you’ve collected is, thanks to the vacuum’s iLoop Smart Sensor technology. Secondly, it can also be used to alter the volume and even silence the voice prompts featured and even download those prompts in various languages.

It’s not the flashiest app or even a necessary one for most users, but I can commend the added functionality and flexibility that this provides, should you want to keep on top of your cleaning schedule.’

To be honest, as functional as this app is, I’m finding I use it less and less with each newer model, as the general functionality and maintenance takes care of itself on the actual device.

Verdict & Value

The Floor One Switch S6 is a great option for users with multiple floor types in their homes. The vacuum mop is easy to set up and even easier to use for hardwood floors and tiles alike. The vacuum itself isn’t a major leap forward but does the job well enough to justify its existence while fixing one of my most repeated requests for a Tineco mop vacuum thus far.

I can ultimately forgive the rather unimportant software and manual cleaning for everything else this offers. Thanks to decent battery life and a bunch of included accessories, it’s an easy recommendation to anyone who is looking for an all-in-one cleaning solution for their home.
