Inspired by the recent sell-out success of their Cretan dinner, Alpha Restaurant is planning to highlight more of Greece’s distinct regions with their regional dinner series, spanning dining experiences pulled from Peloponnese, the Ionion Islands and Central Greece. Whenever a restaurant puts on a regional dinner series it always spreads awareness of the significant differences within a country, so exploring Greece through this dining institution should be a huge hit with Sydney’s more discerning diners.
First off is “The Best of Peloponnese” dinner set for Monday 21st May, taking diners to southern Greece with dishes like squid Spetsofai with orange balsamic and leeks, Spartan braised chicken, and fire-roasted globe artichokes with lemon and fennel. Then it’s on to the “Delights of the Ionian Islands”, focusing on Corfu and Zakynthos on Monday 2nd July. The series will wrap on Monday 13th August with “A Taste of Central Greece”.
All three upcoming events will feature a four-course menu created by Peter Conistis himself, with the price set at $110pp with matching wines included.
“At Alpha, we’re very passionate about celebrating community and bringing people together to share a meal”, said Conistis. “What better way to do so than with a series of dinners celebrating the unique regions and cuisines of Greece”.
UPDATE: the May 21st event has been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances, however the remaining two events will still go ahead as planned
