Part cafe and part bar, Bombini Buzz is Arts Centre Melbourne’s newest eatery, encompassing what it means to live in Melbourne. With its prime river edge location on the Southbank front, this new venue puts the focus on local Melbourne makers – everything from coffee, pastries and locally brewed beer.
In a seamless transition from morning to night, Bombini Buzz is for the busy bees on their way to work, waiting to see a show, or simply exploring the city. With a range of locally produced savoury and sweet treats, Arts Centre Melbourne Food and Beverage director, Frank Bischoff believes Bombini Buzz is intrinsically all about Melbourne.
“Bombini Buzz is first and foremost about Melbourne, the Yarra, local, innovative, fun products created by creative, passionate people that are in most cases from either Melbourne, Victoria or Australia,’’ he said.
“It will serve visitors to Melbourne, theatre patrons and locals alike. You will see a collection of products at Bombini Buzz that you won’t see together at other cafes and bars.”
Patrons can start the morning with a rich brew of micro-roasted coffee from Carlton’s Seven Seeds, and browse through the selection of pastries, cronuts and tarts specially made by pastry chef Ferdinandus Pribadi. Made fresh in-house, visitors can grab a blood orange Brunswick Street tart or a Chapel Street tart, made with spritzy lemon tart with candied fruit.
On offer are also the popular flavours of organic artisan gelato from the famous Billy van Creamy. Aside from their roster of flavours, brothers Mitch and Alex Wells have designed speciality sundaes for Bombini Buzz, which involve the Peach Melba Sundae, made with vanilla ice-cream, homemade peach nectar sauce, raspberries with handmade almond crumb, and the Opera Cake Sundae featuring vanilla and espresso ice-cream, Butterbing brownie cookie crumble and homemade fudge sauce.
As for drinks, Collingwood’s independent brewery, Stomping Ground are available on tap, including their Gipps’ Street Pale Ale, Laneway Lager and Pridelweiss, alongside an impressive list of bottled cocktails handcrafted by Arts Centre Melbourne’s cocktail artisans. With a range of sophisticated flavours, StrangeLove sodas are also available as a non-alcoholic choice.
Happy hour drink specials run every night, and on Friday nights visitors can enjoy live music performances with Bombini Buzz’s Live and Local Fridays.
