Maison Ferrand, Neat Spirits, Mancino Vermouths, and Plantation Rum are teaming up to bring 28 Hongkong Street, which was voted Asia’s Best Bar, to town for Sydney Bar Week this month, following which it will pop up in Melbourne for two days. The very welcome news is part of a much larger program which will see various events being held across the city’s best drinking holes, though perhaps this one sticks out seeing as it’s a very rare opportunity to experience just what has made this Singapore staple so highly acclaimed among bartenders the world over.
28 Hongkong Street will take over Darlinghurst favourite Henrietta Supper Club for one night only on Sunday 18th September, brought to life by two bartenders, two floor staff, and one chef who will all be flying to Sydney from Singapore. Those heading along will be able to experience the various aspects that have made 28 Hongkong St famous, including their distinctive playlist, hospitality, and a menu that will take guests through their signature cocktails over the years.
28 HKS has been voted Asia’s best bar every year for the past three years, and is currently ranked as the 7th best bar in the world. Those who head along to this unmissable pop-up can expect to try cocktails like the Coppertone, a tropical twist on an Old Fashioned made up with Plantation Original Dark Rum, virgin coconut oil, Five Spice pineapple, and Angostura bitters. Other signatures include the Prescription Julep, a punchy mix of Plantation Jamaican Rum, Pierre Ferrand 1840 Cognac, mint, and Smith & Cross Jamaican Rum. Food featured at the pop-up will be classic American comfort eats making use of top ingredients and designed to share.
The trade industry will have the bar to themselves the night after, on 19th September. Melbourne will also have its turn when 28 HKS heads down to take over The Everleigh (21st and 22nd September).
