Over the last couple of weeks, a run of US festivals have revealed their headliners, and amongst them, a slew of Australian performers who will be making this trip to the North over the next few months.
First up, Coachella has dropped its 2017 lineup earlier this month, confirming its headliner rumours and solidifying one of its most diverse and impressive lineups in its history. From its headliners – Beyoncé, Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar – to a supporting cast that includes the likes of NZ act Broods, Aussies King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Bon Iver, New Order, legendary New Orleans ensemble the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and iconic film composer Hans Zimmer, California’s beloved desert festival is in for a wild time when Coachella takes over Indio over two weekends in April.
Alongside King Gizzard are a slew of Aussies – What So Not, Anna Lunoe, Empire of the Sun, POND, Jagwar Ma and The Avalanches are all set to perform. Lorde will also be there to represent New Zealand, in what will be one of her first major shows since 2014.
Coachella takes place in Indio, California – just outside Palm Springs – April 14-16 and April 21-23. Virtually identical weekends will take place across the pair. For more details head to coachella.com.
Next up it’s New York’s Governor’s Ball, which sees Tool, Chance The Rapper, Phoenix and Childish Gambino lead the top billing spots for the June 2nd – 4th festival, while Aussies in Flume, The Avalanches, Kevin Parker (of Tame Impala… “vs Mark Ronson”?), RÜFÜS and recent Falls Festival champion Tkay Maidza also join in on the fun.
The full line up can be checked out below – for ticketing information, visit their website at governorsballmusicfestival.com.
Meanwhile, Manchester, Tennessee festival Bonnaroo – which will be the first ever US festival to feature headliners U2 – will see Flume wearing the Australian flag the from June 8th – 11th this year. Head on over to bonnaroo.com for ticketing information. Check out the full line up below!
And finally, back in New York, it’s Panorama Festival, with a healthy splash of Aussies to perform this July. Tame Impala are Saturday, July 29th headliners with Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker) appearing earlier in the day along with Sydney’s psychedelic howlers Jagwar Ma. Vance Joy will play the opening day of the festival with Friday contributions. Visit panorama.nyc for more information and the complete lineup.
