The team behind Bar Luca and BL Burgers are taking the next very impressive step in solififying their burger empire, which to date includes acclaimed burger bars in Bondi, Darlinghurst, Parramatta and the CBD. That step: a build-your-own bowl and burger bar with eight bases to choose from, 70 ingredients and toppings, and 20 different sauces, conceptualised as Loaded by BL and located near the corner of Missenden Road and King Street (ie, where Jack’s Newtown used to be).
Most would know (and some burger chefs would ever fear) the name Bar Luca thanks to their massively popular and consistency delicious signatures and specials, like the now-iconic Blame Canada which is often cited as the best burger in Sydney. That kind of reputation is needed for an opening so ambitious, and if anyone can pull it off it’s BL crew Sarah and James Robbins and their reliable kitchen staff.
They’re going to need to be constantly on their toes for this one. The optional bases include tater tots, corn chips chili con carne, a hot dog, a regular hamburger and a fried mozzarella cheese patty, which hungry burger fiends can build on with extras like fried haloumi, popcorn chicken, kimchi, peanut butter, shoestring fries and a whole lot more. We’re expecting Instagram to be full with ridiculous creations stemming from this joint.
Loaded by BL will open at 170 Missenden Road, Newtown on Monday 23rd October. Your diet will fail.
