As of this week, Belles glorious mouth burning really f*ckin hot chicken will be accessible from a third location at Darling Square in Sydney, rounding out its sixth site nationwide and cementing its ridiculous popularity amongst Sydneysiders. Head founder and chef Morgan McGlone has negotiated a few more tremendous collaborations for this launch (the last being a tasty Malaysian sandwich deal with PapaRich) including a natural wine label ‘Little Darling’, a reformulated Bloody Mary recipe and a two hour bottomless brunch.
The latest venue will be the first to pour out Red and White blends of Little Darling, a product of a partnership with minimal intervention wine makers Rob Burley at Unkel Wines and Barney Flanders at Côtier Wines. “I’m a big fan of Rob and Barney’s wines, so we were pumped when the opportunity arose to work with them on the Little Darling label,” says McGlone. “At Belles, we care as much about the juice as we do our chicken so creating our own wine seemed like the next natural step.”
To celebrate the grand opening a two hour $50 per person bottomless brunch will also be rolled out across all locations. Every weekend customers can joyfully amplify/cure their hangovers from 11:30am, feasting on signature southern style fried chicken and waffles accompanied by bottomless Belles cocktail jugs and the perfect Bloody Mary, courtesy of a collab with Sydney-based Westmont Pickles who have added their pickle brine to a base of freshly pressed tomato juice and cayenne pepper. “It’s saucy, spicy and exactly what I’d crave after a big night,” says McGlone.
Other brunch cocktails such as The Country Time (lemonade infused with cardamom, served with a shot of Melbourne Moonshine), The Southern Charm (sweet tea with a healthy dose of Buffalo Trace Kentucky Bourbon) and Arnaldo (half house lemonade, half sweet tea with a generous shot of Tromba Tequila) will also be available as well as the full menu and additional sides.
Sydney based artist Henrietta Jackson (Whino, Yours, Mine, Ours Collective) will be keeping the 82 seater venue uber hip with a funky abstract mural to accompany a bunch of bright red and emerald pendant lights, exposed brick walls and booth seating that will surely prove a comfy snooze spot post bottomless brunch belly stuffing and a few too manys.
