Burger Watch: Bar Luca get cheesy with new Beverly Hills Cop burger (Sydney)

Welcome to Burger Watch, where we acknowledge the constant creativity bursting from all sides of the epic burger wave that sweeps Australia every week. The highest of high demand is reserved for this timeless food staple and just about every interpretation of it, whether it to be an over-the-top glutton-fest or a focus on simple burgers done well. We acknowledge that it’s not just enough to compile a list of the best burger joints for each city because we all know the cream of the crop have space on their menu for revolving specials. That’s why every now and then we’ll be paying close attention to some of the absolute best burger joints across the country and picking weekly specials we feel you need in your life, so you’ll never have to miss out again.

First cab off the rank has to be one of our favourites in Sydney: Bar Luca (and BL Burgers).

Bar Luca’s Cheddie Murphy

A burger inspired by Eddie Murphy! Better yet, this burger is an “fromage” to comedy-action flick Beverly Hills Cop. Expect a hell of a lot of gorgeously melted cheese on this one, The $16 burger is built with a BL beef pattie, melted American cheddar, a deep fried cheddar cheese pattie, “PigJam” (we assume bacon jam) and BBQ jerk sauce. It’s being peddled from all three Luca operated venues, right alongside another weekly special, that is a side of “Foley Fries” ($10): shoestring fries covered in liquid cheese, “PigJam”, sport peppers and shallots. Got damn.
