Curio Collection by Hilton plan botanical inspired luxury hotel for Sydney CBD

Upscale full service hotel brand Curio Collection by Hilton has today announced the signing of its very first hotel in Sydney, a 182-room new-build property on Sussex Street that is due for completion by the end of this year. Curio Collection, which is one of Hilton’s 14 brands alongside the likes of Doubletree by Hilton and Tapestry Collection, is globally renowned distinctive properties and dedication to character. With this property, officially titled West Hotel Sydney, being the collection’s Australia debut we can be sure to expect some big things.

“As the first Curio Collection hotel in Australia, the signing of West Hotel Sydney is an exciting achievement for us”, said Global Head of Curio Collection by Hilton Mark Nogal. “Sydney has an eclectic and diverse mix of people, cultures and experiences – all of which are reflected in this property”.

Under a management agreement with M&L Hospitality, Hilton will manage West Hotel Sydney which will be located at 65 Sussex Street in the CBD, close to the ever-growing Barangaroo precinct. The 182 guest rooms will include four spacious suites, a restaurant and bar, a modern gym, and a private meeting/dining room. Modern classic design elements will help shape the interiors, leaning on a strong botanical theme from the open-air central garden atrium and the white waratah flower motif in the lobby, through to the floral-inspired carpet design in each guest room. A partnership with a local Sydney florist will help define this design motif by creating seasonal arrangements and installations to be displayed on-site.

Australian architectural firm Fitzpatrick and Partners will handle the overall design while interiors will be shaped by Woods Bagot to help West Hotel bring its own unique personality to Sydney’s dramatically changing hotel landscape.

The West Hotel Sydney joins 16 hotels open and under development in Australia, including one, which is already managed on behalf of M&L Hospitality.
