David Chang denies rumours that Momofuku Seiōbo is switching to Packer (Sydney)

Inexplicably, The Sunday Telegraph recently published a story based on rumours that world-renowned Chef David Chang will be pulling the rug out from under The Star and moving Momofuku Seiōbo over to their forthcoming competitor Crown Casino. Mariah Carey’s hubby-to-be James Packer will be opening up Crown at Barangaroo, across the water from The Star.

The move would have been a hit to the established casino and hotel seeing as Momofuku Seiōbo is continuously lauded as the property’s crowning jewel as far as dining options goes. Luckily for The Star, Chang has released a short and clear statement denying all claims:

“We would like to clarify that Momofuku is not opening a restaurant at the Crown Casino in Sydney. The recent story that ran in The Sunday Telegraph is completely false. Momofuku is wholly dedicated to our restaurant Seiōbo, which opened at The Star Hotel and Casino in 2011.”

Momofuku issued a similar denial two days before publication, despite that denial not actually appearing in the printed story. thinkingemoji

Packer’s Crown won’t have a shortage of rockstar openings though. Heston Blumenthal, Rene Redzepi, and Neil Perry are all rumoured to bring dining options to the massive development, along with the renowned Nobu.
