Highlighting some of the best in the country, Melbourne’s 8th annual Sommeliers Australia Long Lunch will be returning to Albert Park early August with wines and dishes from three of the city’s best establishments – Embla, Rockpool Bar and Grill, and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. A three-way battle of sommelier supremacy will be pitting Christan McCabe (Embla), Ashley Boburka (Rockpool), and Harry Hunter (Dinner by Heston) against in each other in a challenge requiring each to present three wines and to match with each of the dishes presented to guests.
Three savoury courses will be prepared by Chefs from each of these highly reputable restaurants, proving the various flavours which need to be paired up with the appropriate wines. The winner, as determined by all the wine and food lovers in attendance, will be crowned the “2016 Sommeliers Australia Warrior of Wine”.
“We are thrilled to have three of Melbourne’s most exciting restaurants presenting dishes as part of the Sommeliers Australia Long Lunch, and to have three of Melbourne’s best Somms taking on the challenge of matching something interesting with each course”, said Sommeliers Australia President David Lawler. “We are looking forward to enjoying what will be on offer”.
