Highly awarded airline Emirates will be officially landing in Porto later this year, making the increasingly popular coastal city it’s second destination in Portugal and upping access for Aussie travellers wishing to discover this increasingly popular destination. The new service, operated by a Boing 777-300ER aircraft in a three class cabin configuration – 8 private First Class suites, 42 lie flat Business Class seats, 310 Economy Class seats – will fly four times weekly from Dubai.
For Aussie travellers, this means that connections to Porto via Dubai from Melbourne and Sydney will be much easier, opening travellers up to more of Portugal which has quickly become a favourite for those expanding outside of the typical European haunts.
The new service will be commencing from 2nd July 2019, operating between Dubai and Porto on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. It will depart Dubai (EK197) and arrive in Porto at 2:30pm. The return flight (EK198) will depart Porto at 5:35pm and land in Dubai at 4:15am the following morning.
“Porto is currently enjoying increased levels of tourism, which is also reflective of the growth in the number of visitors to Portugal as a whole”, explained Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline. “The introduction of this new flight, along with our twice daily Lisbon service, will help meet this growing demand from both leisure and business travellers, as well as provide them with more choice, flexibility and connectivity when travelling to and from Portugal”.
Aussie travellers will be able to easily connect to Porto via Emirates’ hub in Dubai, via daily flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. This includes daily A380 services from select destinations.
