With the launch of Acre Farm & Eatery in December of last year, Melbourne’s Burwood Brickworks brought to life an urban, sustainable rooftop farm accompanied by farm-to-table dining experiences at Glasshouse Café and Farmhouse Restaurant. Now, Acre is taking things to another level with acreLand, a program of events utilising their rooftop farm.
Beginning 1st February and continuing on the first Saturday of each month, acreLand promises a series of events which will encompass wholesome food and drinks booths grown and harvested on their agricultural space, featuring lamb gyros, fresh cannoli, Gippsland Jersey Milk milkshakes, exclusive on-site farm tours, live entertainment, face painting and plenty more.
The expansive 2,500sqm rustic rooftop is surrounded by lush, vibrant greenery with an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables grown within their own planting grounds and greenhouse facility.
At their first event, expect live music with Alejandro the Mexican Music Man followed by some beats from What the Funk. The entertainment will be accompanied by delectable food and beverage stalls, such as vegetable shawarma on the spit, fresh bombolinis and cannolis with a variety of flavours to choose from. Guests can also take an informative tour of the glasshouse and learn about the process of hydroponics, a unique approach to growing plants in water based and nutrient rich solution.
Support the RSPCA pop-up shelter by adopting an animal or by bringing a gold coin donation for the bushfire relief efforts and CFA.
If you would like to dine at their paddock-to-plate restaurants, the Glasshouse Café and Farmhouse restaurant will be operating as normal. Executive chef Brad Simpson will be serving up some tasteful delights at the Farmhouse such as his classic John Dory with burned butter, caper and lemon, steamed white wine and herbed mussels with crispy saltbush and focaccia, a succulent whole charred chicken with a kale garlic salsa and many more.
acreLand is located at Burwood Brickworks, 70 Middleborough Road, Burwood East, VIC
