Tucked along the peaceful banks of the Petanu River, Leona Valley View is a secluded sanctuary crafted with adult guests in mind – ideal for romantic getaways or those simply seeking a quiet retreat. The villa’s two-story design offers intimate comfort with two spacious bedrooms, each equipped with a king-sized bed and private ensuite bathroom. This space blends seclusion with convenience, offering private entrances to each bedroom, a cosy living room to relax in, and a fully equipped kitchen.
The infinity pool, overlooking the lush greenery and winding river below, is truly mesmerising. I spent my afternoons admiring the peaceful view of the distant trees, occasionally interrupted by the playful movement of monkeys swinging through the canopy. As the day gave way to sunset, the sky transformed into an array of golden and rose hues, adding a magical touch to the experience.
One of the highlights of the villa is the open-air shower, which offers a unique connection to nature. With no roof above, you can shower beneath the wide-open sky, allowing the elements to surround you as you relax and unwind. Whether under the sun or the stars, the experience felt deeply rejuvenating.
Leona Valley View offers the best of both worlds: it’s perfectly peaceful yet still close enough to Ubud to enjoy its vibrant culture and attractions. Though the villa feels like a remote hideaway, Grab and Gojek are always just a quick call away, making it easy to explore nearby restaurants, shops, and local landmarks or bring food straight to your doorstep.
Mornings were a highlight, with a delicious breakfast provided each day. The villa also features a well-appointed kitchen, ideal for preparing your own meals or simply enjoying a cup of coffee in the tranquillity of your surroundings.
A special part of staying at Leona Valley View is the history surrounding the area. The Petanu River itself is entwined with the legend of King Mayadenawa, a powerful ruler whose defeat is said to have given birth to the river. This local lore adds an element of mystique to the villa’s already calming atmosphere, enriching the experience with stories of good triumphing over evil, celebrated during the Balinese Galungan festival.
Leona Valley View isn’t just a place to stay – it’s a retreat that offers a connection to nature, peace, and the intriguing history of Ubud, making it a perfect escape for adults in search of a serene yet culturally enriched experience.
