The hotel booking site hotels.com has had something of a remarkable history, originally launching alongside the internet in 1991 as the Hotel Reservation Network (HRN), which provided guests with hotel bookings over the telephone.
Over the 25 years that has followed, this business model evolved and moved with the technology of the times, becoming a worldwide digital booking network – now owned by the Expedia Group – with 89 localised websites and more than 1 in 3 bookings happening over a mobile phone. Something about that feels full circle doesn’t it?
Earlier this month, the company celebrated its 25th birthday with a party at STUDIO at the top of the iconic Westfield Sydney Tower. Bachelor star Tim Robards MC’d the event and celebrate the occasion.
Katherine Cole, Regional Director of the Hotels.com brand for Australia and New Zealand said the event was a fantastic way to celebrate the success of the brand and say thank you to all of Hotels.com’s supporters.
“Hotels.com couldn’t have reached this important milestone without the support of our industry partners and loyal customers.”
Hotels.com also recently announced their Hotels.com Rewards program hit 25 million members – something that seems only appropriate for the brand’s 25th year.
