Iconic Hong Kong hotel to showcase new Conrad Shawcrass Exhibition

Iconic Hong Kong hotel The Peninsula has recently announced a new installment in their ‘Love Art At The Peninsular’ arts program. Working in conjunction with the Royal Academy of Arts, the program will launch an exhibition by British sculptor, Conrad Shawcross.

Shawcross will become the second major artist to exhibit at the hotel when his The ADA Project opens in the hotel lobby from March 22 to April 6 of this year.

Showcasing a combination of sculpture, robotics and music, Shawcross’s works are visually and aurally dramatic. He is the youngest living member of the esteemed UK-based Royal Academy of Arts.

In the unique collaboration, The ADA Project will show Shawcross working with contemporary music composers to redesign their creative process. Robotic arms – similar to those used on a factory assembly line – perform predetermined movement and dance routines to inspire the composers to create music.

The Peninsula hotel continues to put a focus on showcasing Hong Kong’s growing position in the public art scene. For more information visit www.peninsula.com/
