James Squire have opened up a new dedicated Brewhouse over in Frankston to bring Melbourne a fresh take on their awarded brews. Named The Cheeky Squire the just-opened pub serves as a substantial makeover to the former Davey’s Bar & Restaurant, which has long been a fixture on the famed “pub corner” that sits at the intersection of Davey St and Nepean Highway.
The venue design has reshaped the space to bring in character from the nearby Port Phillip Bay, offering views of the glistening waters as well as the developing foreshore area. The main bar is once again a focal point, complemented with spacious public areas and a stripped back approach that highlights the building’s original brickwork and floors.
Paying homage to the growing appreciation of quality craft beers and pub food held to a higher standard, the venue operates with a sharp dedication to showcasing the best of Squire and Malt Shovel Brewery. This means a huge range is available on tap, as well as limited edition brews including the newly released Cabin Fever, Interceptor Black IPA, Karni Kolsch, Mid River and Mint Heist.
Head Chef Dale Payne is taking care of the food, making good use of locally produced ingredients sourced from the Mornington Peninsula. Pub goers can expect gourmet share plates, pizza, and pub classics.
