Following the successful entry of Yayoi into the Australian dining scene, Japan-based company Plenus have begun what they hope will be a nationwide expansion for another one of the popular brand’s, Hotto Motto. The well known bento box chain, which boasts around 2,656 locations world wide, has chosen Sydney’s The Galeries as their first port of call, a seamless fit nearby the precinct’s Yayoi restaurant.
High quality bento boxes are being promised from the chain, introducing a different kind of fast food to the Australian market. With the outlet opening earlier this month, Hotto Motto Australia seeks to provide a variety of hot bento boxes for Sydneysiders to takeaway, reflecting a staple that is deeply rooted in Japanese food culture and a regular favourite at Japanese restaurants across the country.
The focus on highly flavoursome and accessible boxes has seen Hotto Motto become one of Japan’s most grab-and-go options, with all food – even the rice – cooked, boiled, grilled and fried in-store.
The menu features various meats, fish and vegetables in various options like the makunouchi bento and the beef sukiyaki bento. In total, there are 14 bento boxes on the menu offering a wide range of flavours along with four types of salads and soups available to make up a complete meal.
