Kings Cross gets a colourful new 80’s themed bar named Chachi’s (Sydney)

A retro-inspired dive bar has opened up not far from Kings Cross’ iconic Coca-Cola sign, transforming what was formerly The Old Growler and bringing Sydney the vibrant 80’s-minded Chachi’s. Described as a “fully immersive eighties bar”, the brightly hued watering hole has gone through the dark and grungy space with a serious itch for nostalgia, making use of everything from a Grace Jones mural and polaroid cameras to lego, classic arcade games and rubiks cubes.

The kitschy underground bar isn’t afraid of lifting those visual cues with themed food and drink either, landing on complementary options like a bright blue Socom Sour cocktail, Pina Colada, and an Espresso Martini. Don’t worry though, there’s still plenty of drinks for lovers of something more elegant and modern, like the Old Fashioned, Negroni and Sloe Gin Sour.

A playful menu of comfort food should go down easily with all that 80’s cheese, featuring pub grub like the Molly Ringwald burger (that’s a beef burger with wasabi, beetroot and coleslaw on brioche if you were wondering), Kevin with Bacon burger, fried chicken, loaded fries, and various jaffles, one with spaghetti and cheese, and one with cauliflower + mac ‘n’ cheese.

Basically, this is the complete opposite of The Old Growler.
