Australia has the good fortune to be in the midst of winter when World Chocolate Day (today, July 7th) rolls around each year, which usually means that across the country people will be dipping their marshmallows in a comfortable cup of hot chocolate. One of the most ubiquitous chocolate cafes in the country, Max Brenner acknowledge the power of a good cup of rich and creamy hot cocoa, and this year they are channeling that into two limited edition flavours to add to their current range of winter warmers.
Released at the start of this week, Max Brenner have put both a Matcha White Hot Chocolate and Baked Hot Chocolate (headline image) on the menu, for offer between now and 28th August of this year. The former is being sold at $6.80 a cup, moving away from the traditional hot chocolate and towards a more Japanese-tinged beverage making full use of the rich Matcha flavour. The latter, and the one we’re most excited about, is a bit pricier at $10.80 a cup, but stretches the idea of what a hot chocolate can be with a rich chocolate fondant in a mug with either peanut butter or a milk chocolate centre, finished off with whipped cream and sweet toffee drizzle. Yeah it’s excessive, but so is the wind right now – on the East Coast at least.
