Award winning South-East Asian restaurant Red Spice Road has reopened following stage one of their $1 million renovation, bringing some major changes to the look and feel of the restaurant with updated furnishings, new look interior and exterior, a new kitchen, and a brand new menu. The centrally located Melbourne dining experience recently picked up the People’s Choice Award from The Age Good Food Guide 2016, and are looking to maintain that reputation with their latest menu, which has retained signature dishes while introducing new flavours and styles.
Executive Chef John McLeay has drawn inspiration from his travels throughout Japan, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, and China, to design this new menu, resulting in dishes like Cured Salmon with pickled radish, seaweed, herbs, dashi mayo, and furikake, as well as Soft Shell Crab Sri Lankan Curry, and Braised Lamb with cumin, sichuan pepper, celery, coriander, and steamed mantou.
This is the most substantial and comprehensive redevelopment the restaurant has had to date, changing everything from the colour schemes to the flooring, and adding in new artworks to the private dining rooms. Diners will be presented with a completely new space, while the final stage of development is set to be completed in a few weeks time.
