Merivale will close Manly’s Papi Chulo to make way for a new Queen Chow (Sydney)

Merivale will say goodbye to Manly Wharf’s beloved Papi Chulo on Sunday 29 April, to make way for Queen Chow in the coming months. With Queen Chow’s Enmore location an undeniable hit for the hospitality group, the crew will be swapping those waterfront meat sweats for Cantonese cuisine.

“We have had a lot of fun at Papi these past four years, but felt the time was right to evolve the space and its offering,”Justin Hemmes, CEO of Merivale said. “Queen Chow has been a tremendous success in the Inner West, so we’re going to take the very best bits from there and create something really special for Manly.”

The joint will be run by Executive Chef Patrick Friesen and dumpling master Eric Koh serving up roast meats, live seafood and diverse dim sum.

Over the final weeks of Papi Chulo, the smokehouse and grill has launched a ‘best of’ menu, featuring all the favourite dishes including the famous pea guacamole, mushroom and spinach croquettes, the roast cauliflower with romesco brown butter crumbs and parmesan, hot wings and comeback sauce, porchetta, pulled pork and Rangers Valley wagyu brisket. There will also be whole baby snapper, King prawns, Riverine hanger steak, charcoal chicken platter and the excellent Papi Chulo burger.
