Melbourne’s packed with inner-city breweries, and all of them have their own special charm but there’s always been something different about Moon Dog Brewery Bar especially now that they’ve taken on more space. The notoriously inventive brewery now serve their best brews in what is best described as a super eclectic (and ridiculously hipster) garage. It’s made them one of the best hidden hangs in the area, and with this recent expansion that reputation is only set to grow.
Making full use of the adjoining warehouse to their brewery, the folks behind Moon Dog have been able to not only expand operations, pumping out specials alongside their core range – Old Mate Pale Ale, Love Tap Lager, Mack Daddy Dark Ale and Beer Can – but also introduce a brewery bar and pizza caravan that sits alongside 4 operating fermentation tanks in a space that features a retractable roof, palm trees, flamingos, comfy couches, and a tribute to John Candy.
Perhaps most excitingly is that they’ve got the space to make their popular Roller Disco Sundays a weekly thing now, taking over the new ballroom and transforming it into a lively roller arena for the first Sunday of each month. Each edition jumps into a new theme as well, though they promise to always feature the essentials: mirror balls, DJs, live performances and “outrageous” fashion.
